Advisory · Business and management

Strategy, sales, operations and organisation for owners deciding what comes next.

Advisers who help an owner or leadership team make a decision about the business and then carry it out: where to grow, how to sell, how to run the shop floor, who runs what. Work is scoped as a Synerger engagement, with milestones, status reports and a decision log.

When clients call us

The moments this practice is for

Typical moments: the founder's children are joining and roles are unclear, growth has stalled in the home state and you are weighing a new region, or the business is preparing for a sale or an investor and needs to run without the promoter in every meeting. Some clients call after a deal, when two teams now have to work as one.

What we do

Services in business and management, scoped in writing.

  1. Business strategy

A short, written plan: which products, customers and regions to pursue, what to stop doing, and what it needs in people and money. Built from your own numbers and conversations with your team.

  2. Go to market and sales

Pricing, channels, distributor terms and how the sales team is organised and paid. We look at real orders and lost quotes before suggesting any change.

  3. Market research and expansion

Before you open in a new state or export market, we size the demand, talk to likely customers and dealers, and set out what entering will cost and how long it may take.

  4. Process improvement

We walk the process with the people who do it, from order to dispatch or from enquiry to invoice, find where work waits, and fix the few steps that matter most.

  5. Organisation and HR strategy

Who reports to whom, what each senior role owns, how decisions are made and how people are paid and reviewed. In family businesses this includes how family members and professional managers work together.

  6. Change management

Plans fail when people are not told why. We help you sequence the change, explain it to staff, dealers and customers, and track whether the new way is actually being used.

How we work

Four steps, written into the scope

  1. Step 1Listen firstInterviews with the owners, senior staff and a few customers or dealers, plus a look at the numbers. We write back what we heard before proposing anything.
  2. Step 2Agree the decisionWe narrow the work to the decisions that matter and the options for each, then agree the scope and milestones in a signed engagement on Synerger.
  3. Step 3Recommend and planA written recommendation with the reasoning and the trade offs, and a plan with owners and dates. You and your family or board make the call.
  4. Step 4Help it stickRegular reviews against the plan, with action items and decisions logged, until your team runs it without us.

An example

A second generation textile family in Surat plans succession

Two brothers run a weaving and processing business in Surat that their father built. Their children have joined, one in sales and one in the dyeing unit, and every decision still goes to the father. We would begin by interviewing each family member and the three senior managers separately, then map who actually decides on credit to traders, yarn purchase and hiring. The output would be a proposed structure with clear roles for each family member and the professional managers, a family charter covering how new members join and how shares pass between branches, and a two year plan to move day to day decisions away from the founder. The family decides every point; we write it down, test it against real cases and track it. Share transfers and any change in ownership would be checked with the family's CA and lawyer.

Questions

About business and management advisory

Do you work with family businesses specifically?

Yes. Succession, roles for family members and the line between owners and managers come up in many engagements. We are careful to hear every branch of the family, including the people who did not make the first call.

Will you stay to implement the plan?

Yes, if you want that. Under the FDE model an adviser works inside your team for an agreed period, attending reviews and helping managers through the change. Some clients run it themselves with a monthly check in.

How long does an engagement take?

It depends on the decision. A focused piece such as a sales review can take a few weeks; an organisation and succession plan usually takes longer because people need time to discuss it. We give you a dated plan at the start.
